Rose Eleanor Milne, Ottawa Artist and Sculptor
Rose Eleanor Milne, is most well known for her work as Canada’s Dominion Sculptor from 1961−93. In that position she designed and carved (with assistants) the high relief frieze History of Canada in the lobby of House of Commons, Ottawa; designed and built (with assistants) 12 stained glass windows for Chamber of the House of Commons; designed and built (with assistants) 12 stones for Chamber of House of Commons for the theme, British North America Act; designed the series The Origins of Life: Prehistoric Life for House of Commons, Ottawa; designed & carved Canada Remembers memorial, Centre Block, Parliament Hill 1995.
When she retired she began to create Electronic or Digital Art on her computer using a WACOM tablet and electronic pen. Over the years she has been a freelance sculptor, stained glass window designer, engraver in wood, painter in water colors and oils.
